Post Adoption Support

Post adoption services is an evolving focus of The Sacred Portion Children's Outreach.  We recognize that families need  on-going support to help them deal with some of the challenges of parenting an older adopted child.  Many of these children have experienced some form of trauma from abuse or neglect.  Previously neglected or abused children who fail to receive all God intends for them may develop special needs or difficult behaviors.  Monthly support groups and get-togethers help families connect with each other for the emotional support that they need.  Workshops and seminars provide families with information on pertinent issues related to raising adopted children.  Respite care services give adoptive parents a break to rest and regroup.  A post-adoption assistance fund helps families with the cost of professional services such as counseling, therapy and neurofeedback.  We have seen the difference that post adoption support can make in adoption placements being successful.
