The adoption journey doesn't end when the child comes home. Raising an adopted child presents unique challenges that can continue into adulthood. The Sacred Portion Children's Outreach provides post-adoption services to provide the support and encouragement that adoptive families need as they walk this road.

Parent Support Groups

Parent support groups address the needs of parents at different stages of their adoption journey. These groups typically meet on a monthly basis with an agenda that ranges from informal discussion to focusing on specific topics that have relevance to parenting adopted children.

Workshops and Courses

Periodically, we are able to offer one-day workshops or a course series that gives parents the perspective and skills that they need to successfully parent their adopted child.

Adoptive Family Get-Togethers

On a quarterly basis, we organize a get-together of adoptive and prospective adoptive families. These gatherings give parents and kids and opportunity to connect, renew relationships and support one another through their common experiences. Get-togethers may include potlucks, picnics, sledding parties, etc.

VIDEO COURSE AND DISCUSSION GROUP

  • This eight session video course has been developed by internationally renowned developmental psychologist Dr. Gordon Neufeld, author of the book, Hold On To Your Kids. Dr. Neufeld's approach seeks to make sense of children from the inside out and to cultivate and preserve powerful parent-child connections.

Post Adoption Parent Support Group will meet the last Thursday of every month.
